On August 8th, I headed out to Taekwang Country Club for a late afternoon and night round. After weeks of summer heat, the weather had finally cooled down, making it an incredible evening to hit the fairways.

Taekwang CC is a well-known membership golf club located just 30 minutes from the Gangnam area in southern Seoul. Because it offers night golf tee times and sits so close to the city, it is one of the most convenient golf courses near Seoul for a quick, stress-free escape.

First Impressions and Course Layout

This was my first time playing at Taekwang CC, and the layout immediately stood out. The fairways are wide, forgiving, and straightforward, making it an enjoyable play without too many hidden traps.

The only small downside was the turf condition on a few spots. Mid-August heat had taken its toll, leaving a few burnt patches of grass on the course and around the greens. Still, framing shots against the backdrop of distant city high-rises and dynamic sunset skies made for a fantastic atmosphere.

Sunset Tees and Mid-Round Bites

We teed off at 5:00 PM and wrapped up our 18 holes around 9:30 PM under the stadium night lights. One of the highlights of playing night golf in Korea is the halfway house experience. Right around the turn, we ordered fried chicken at the shade house. Having hot, crispy chicken between nines is a classic Korean golf tradition that never disappoints.

While green fees here sit on the higher price side, the seamless 30-minute drive from Gangnam makes it worth every penny when you want a hassle-free round without spending hours on the highway.
